Abstract

Well Jepon-1 (JPN-1) at Gundih Field, Indonesia, a former exploration gas well, was selected as a candidate to be converted to a CO2 injector well. The study discussed the integrity evaluation of Well JPN-1, focusing on: 1) the corrosion analysis and the tubing material selection, 2) the evaluation of leakage in the well, 3) the evaluation of the cement sheath behind existing casing and liner, 4) the evaluation of remedial cementing, and 5) the future plan of re-completion design. Based on a thorough evaluation of the latest condition of the well, including the workover and logging operations, the integrity of the well could be improved after the remedial cementing operations. However, the conversion of the Well JPN-1 to a CO2 injector well cannot be performed yet due to gas leakage problem and casing integrity issues. A further operation to improve well integrity should be carried to fulfill the requirement according to NORSOK D-010 standard.
