Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of waste turmeric (Curcuma domestica) meal on the production performance of layer quails (Cortunixcortunix japonica). 40 layer quails were divided into 2 groups: control (T1) and supplemented with 3% waste turmeric meal (T2) in their dieats for 4 weeks. Every weeks the production performance was measured. The result showed that WTM supplementation on the 3rd week signinificantly decreased eggs, productivity, hen day, egg mass, and increased FCR. WTM contained high condensed tannin which has inhibitory effect on the absorbsion of nutrients. It is concluded that high dose of WTM has an inhibitory effect on their performance.
