Abstract

Craniofacial bone is a part of the human body that often experiences complex injuries caused by damage, due to natural or other causes that require surgical treatment. In cases with extensive craniofacial bone accidents, direct recovery cannot occur because it exceeds the body’s natural regenerative capacity. For this reason, additional alternative materials are needed that can help speed up the recovery process. This material is expected to have excellent osteointegration properties. Osteoblasts play a major role in modifying injured bones. At the same time, osteoclasts work to resorb bone. These two mechanism play a role in bone homeostasis with the role of various molecular processes until bone repair is complete. Runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2) is one of the important cytokines in the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells into osteoprogenitor cells in the formation of new bone. Collagen membrane has been produced by manufacturers, derived from porcine pericardium. The weakness of this membrane is the high price so that it is not compatible for application in very extensive bone defects and high maintenance costs. One of the biomaterials currently being developed is Demineralized Bovine Dentin Sponge (DBDS) derived from bovine dentin. The objective of this literature review was to understand the characteristics DBDS membranes combined with Secretome Adiposed-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells are expected to be a new alternative as GBR. The search for literature sources was carried out through the PubMed database to obtain literature that supports the conclusions drawn from this literature review. In this review we discuss the Application of DBDS combination of Secretome Adiposed-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cell as GBR, which is expected to be able to increase protein growth factors in large bone defect areas Malaysian Journal of Medicine and Health Sciences (2024) 20(SUPP12):184-189 doi:10.47836/mjmhs.20.s12.26
