Abstract

The aim of this research is comparing of the edible plastic physical properties that made by varied pH of solvent. The plastic sample was made using the hydrolysis method in tapioca starch, with acetic acid and ammonia solvents. In this hydrolysis, the ratio of tapioca starch and solvent is 1: 1, by adding 50 gram of tapioca starch to 50 ml of solvent. The pH variation of the solution in this research was made 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. Composition of the edible plastic is 7,5 gram hydrolysis product, 100 ml aquades, 45ml alcohol 96 % and 1,2 glycerol. Characterization of the sample show that the edible plastic made have been stable with thickness (41-111) μm, tensile strength (37.61-41.51) kPa, and elongation (3,1-4,5) %.
