Abstract

Superabsorbent hydrogel specimens has been found by controlling its two main ingradients composition, as well as poly(potassium acrylate) and nanochitosan in their preparations using by gamma irradiation techniques. This way was conducted at 10 kGy of the doses of ionizing gamma irradiation, in which its crosslinks characteristic has been studied by FTIR spectrometer and by SEM image for its surface morphologies. The FTIR spectrum result was reveals that poly(pottasium acrylate) and nanochitosan were grafted. Meanwhile by SEM image was looked its pore size in about 200μm. The gel fractions of hydrogel optimally occurs for sample 2% nanochitosan and with 97.96% points. Water absorption was decreased by increased its nanochitosan, however all of them showing the absorptions still enhanced. Theerefore, all of the results on this works has been behaved as a superabsorbent hydrogels.
