Abstract

This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of Phaleria macrocarpa (Scheff.) Boerl leaf extract on total plate count and cecal coliform bacteria of broiler chickens infected with Escherichia coli. The extract of Phaleria macrocarpa at different doses of 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50% were used in this study. The results showed that Phaleria macrocarpa leaf extract at the concentration of more than 20% can significantly reduce the TPC value and most probable number (MPN) Escherichia coli value was reduced at a concentration of 30%, 40%, and 50%.
