Abstract

Wastewater treatment plant in one of tofu industries in Probolinggo City consisted of anaerobic digester and anaerobic biofilter (ABF) which the ABF did not operate for some time. The anaerobic digester was the main unit in this plant, thus the quality of the output of the treatment unit was far from the standard of Governor Regulation number 72/2013. To optimize the treatment system, it needed performance evaluation and redesigned of the wastewater plant. The evaluation and redesign included wastewater quality analysis, evaluation of existing wastewater treatment, determine the alternative treatment, and detailed engineering design. The results of this study showed that the performance of the plant was not optimal and redesign was required. Redesign of the unit included ABF and constructed wetland. Dimensions of ABF was based on existing unit which were 6.32 m x 1.10 m x 1.50 but the constructed wetland was proposed for 13 m x 6 m x 0.90 m.
