N2 - ZSM-5 was synthesized from calcined Indonesian kaolin (metakaolin) as a raw material. The synthesis process was carried out by hydrothermal method without any structure directing agent or organic template. Synthesized products were analyzed by X-ray diffractometer, fourier transform infra red (FTIR) spectrometer, N2 physisorption analyzer, and Transmission Electron Microscope. Synthesis with tetraethylorthosilicates (TEOS) as additional silica source in different hydrothermal condition produce impure ZSM-5, while pure ZSM-5 was successfully produced by the addition of sodium oxalic and magnesium chloride mixture prior the optimized hydrothermal condition. Hierarchical porosity was obtained from post-synthesis treatment trough desilication.
