Abstract

The purification bioethanol process was necessary for separating water from ethanol to have a grade as a fuel. Purification process, there are several column units used, namely separator, absorber, and rectifier. Overall control, commonly called PWC in the ethanol purification process, is significant in maintaining process stability and optimal conditions. So in this study, design PWC control with a real-time optimizer using GWO in the bioethanol purification process to get energy use efficiency. The results of PWC control using GWO as RTO show energy use savings of 30, 465.720 kJ/h with setpoint values for condenser pressure and reboiler temperature are 94.5 kPa, and 108°C in the rectifier column with the value of ethanol purity obtained is 95.5 wt%. PWC control system with RTO using GWO in the bioethanol purification process produces a more stable control system and saves energy make increasing profits.
