Abstract
Introduction: Verbal violence occurs in many broad environments, the most basic victims are children until they continue in adolescence, because the causative factors that occur at an early age will continue in adolescence to adulthood, as a result of which verbal violence will grow a greater risk and prolonged impact. The UN agency for children ranks Indonesia as the country with the highest level of violence against children in Southeast Asia. The data was released by Wahana Visi Indonesia in July 2020 with the result that 33.8% of children still experience verbal violence. Objective: The purpose of this studi was to find out the form of social support for appreciation in an effort to increase the self-acceptance of adolescent survivors of verbal abuse in Surabaya. Methods: This research was a type of qualitative research with direct data collection techniques through in-depth interviews. The research informant was a teenage survivor of verbal violence in Surabaya who was connected to the community of Rumah Remaja Surabaya. The data obtained will be analyzed qualitatively and use the source triangulation method to check the validity of the data. Results: Most of the major research informants said they earned praise and understanding from some of their surroundings. In addition, all of the main research informants said they had the support received in their neighborhoods in part because they were not again bl amed or cornered, understood, and supported adolescent survivors in going through the difficult things after verbal abuse occurred. This source of support can come from family and friends. Conclusion: Survivors of verbal abuse in Surabaya received award support in the form of praise, understood and accepted by the neighborhood, most of the award support came from friends and family.
