Abstract
Introduction: Childhood tuberculosis (TB) in Indonesia, particularly in the Pabean Cantian Sub District of Surabaya City, has a high morbidity rate. However, many TB cases remain undiagnosed and unreported. To address this issue, Geliat Unair, UNICEF, and the Surabaya City Health Office have collaborated on a program to train health cadres and teachers to enhance the abbilities in educating and screening of childhood TB and support its elimination. Objective: This research aims to analyze the difference in knowledge among health cadres and teachers before and after receiving training on childhood TB. Method: The research methodology employed a quantitative observational approach. The sampling technique involved total sampling, which includes all 60 partisipants in the cadre and teacher training. These participants consist of health cadres and teachers (from kindergarten, early childhood education, primary schools, junior high schools, and Islamic boarding schools) in the Pabean Cantian Sub District of Surabaya. Knowledge measurement in this study is obtained from pre-test and post-test results using a questionnaire. Data analysis is conducted using the Paired T-test statistical method Result: The research findings indicate p-values of 0.00 (p < α), suggesting a significant difference in knowledge before and after the training. Conclusion: There is a difference in the knowledge of health cadres and teachers before and after receiving training on childhood TB.
