Abstract

Linear IgA Disease (LAD) is a rare autoimmune bullous dermatosis that may manifested in the oral cavity. Characterized skin lesions are common, however oral lesions may mimic various diseases and causing a delay in diagnosis. This review summarizes LAD oral lesions to assist initial diagnosis for dentists. A systematic search using MeSH term of “oral manifestation, linear IgA disease, linear IgA dermatoses, linear IgA dermatosis, and linear IgA herpetiformis” was conducted on ScienceDirect, PubMed and Scopus. Full-text case report and case series on human between 1970-2022 published in English were included. Of sixty-three cases reporting cutaneous manifestation with oral involvements and twelve cases presenting oral manifestations only, the most frequent lesion types were erosion, blisters, and ulceration, while others will be discussed in the paper. LAD cutaneous manifestation may assist initial diagnosis, while oral manifestations require further investigation to distinguish with other bullous diseases.
