Abstract

The World Health Organization warned 1 in 10 people at the global level, or more than 900 million people would be at risk of losing their hearing senses by 2050. Exposure to noise in the work environment can cause hearing loss due to noise. The noise at the airport is quite loud especially in the ground handling section. This study aimed to show the profile of workers in the ground handling section who are exposed to noise with experience hearing loss. The workers of Jasa Angkasa Semesta Ltd., participated and taken with a simple random sampling technique. The result show that normal hearing was found in workers with the age range 40-49 years (16.85%), whereas bilateral type hearing loss found in the age range 50-60 years more (13.48%). Among the male workers showed normal hearing (40.45%), unilateral type (16.86%), bilateral type (29.21%). While in the female workers were normal hearing (6.74%), both unilateral (3.37%) and bilateral type (3.37%). The distribution of hearing loss experience mostly on workers in the ramp silver section (±93.4 dB) with unilateral (4.49%) and bilateral type of loss (6.74%). The normal hearing were mostly found in workers with working period under 10years (24.72%), meanwhile the most number of unilateral type is 10-15 years (6.74%), and bilateral type is 16-20 years (12.36%). Workers using ear protectors mostly have normal hearing (25.84%), while workers without ear protectors mostly have unilateral type hearing loss (14.61%).
