Abstract
Introduction: In Indonesia, diarrhea is a public health problem that can cause Extraordinary Events and even lead to death. Diarrhea is the cause of under-five deaths with a proportion of 10.3%. Many risk factors cause diarrhea. Poor environmental sanitation triggers the presence of pathogen habitats and makes a person susceptible to disease, especially diarrhea. Diarrhea is often associated with environmental sanitation. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between environmental sanitation and cases of toddler diarrhea in non-ODF villages in the working area of the Cukir Health Center. Method: This research is a type of quantitative research with a cross sectional approach. The population of this study were toddlers aged 12-48 months, totaling 1,011 toddlers. The sample of this research is 88 toddlers and determined by simple random sampling method. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire that had been designed by the researcher by interviewing and observing the respondent's house. Result: Research results based on chi square analysis it was found that there was a significant relationship to the sub-variables of the condition of the latrine facilities (p-value = 0.039) and waste management (p-value = 0.023). While those that did not have a significant relationship were the condition of the sewerage channel (p=0.075), clean water supply (p=1.00), and drinking water supply (p=constant). Based on multivariate analysis, it was found that the most dominant factor was the waste management sub-variable. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between latrine conditions and waste management with cases of toddler diarrhea in non-ODF villages in the working area of the Cukir Health Center.
