Abstract
Introduction: The job characteristics of mental health nurses make them more susceptible to burnout symptoms. The incidence of burnout can be caused by lifestyle factors such as smoking habits, diet, and physical activity. Objective: The purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between lifestyle with burnout in in-patient nurse of Menur Mental Health Hospital. Methods: This research is a descriptive analytic study with a cross-sectional design. The sample in this study was 48 intermediate inpatient nurses at Menur Mental Hospital. The independent variable in this research was lifestyle factors such as smoking, dietary intake, and physical activity. While the depndent variable was burnout. Data was obtained by questionnaire and analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis. Results: Lifestyle factors which had a relationship with burnout were dietary intake (0,037) and physical activity (0,003). Meanwhile, smoking (0,442), the number of smoked cigarettes per day (0,116), and the overall smoking duration (0,541) had no relationship with burnout. Conclusion: Dietary intake and physical activity had a relationship with nurses burnout. however, smoking had no relationship with nurses burnout. The better the dietary intake and physical activity, the lower the burnout for nurses.
