Abstract

Introduction: Office workers often complain of eye fatigue due to prolonged computer use and electromagnetic wave radiation generated by monitor screens. If complaints are not addressed, visual acuity will decrease resulting in headaches, increased accident rates, decreased work quality because workers are less focused, decreased work productivity, and eye disease and even blindness. Objective: This study aims to identify the relationship between individual characteristic factors and the emergence of CVS complaints. Method: This research is an observational study with a cross sectional design. Bivariate analysis with the chi-square test was carried out to see the relationship between individual characteristic factors and the appearance of CVS complaints. Respondents in this study were 38 office workers who use computers when working. Result: A total of 15 respondents (34.2%) experienced CVS. The variables age (0.232), years of service (0.507), distance to the eye to the monitor (0.583), and use of visual aids (0.426) had no relationship with CVS complaints while the duration variable working with a computer per day (0.011) has a relationship with CVS complaints. Conclusion: It is recommended that workers activate the bluelight filter and reading mode to reduce blue light on the monitor screen, don't forget to take breaks, and use anti-UV glasses when working at the computer.
