First record of threatened asian catfish, Clarias batrachus (Linnaeus, 1758) (siluriformes, clariidae) from Kangean Island, Indonesia

Abstract

Asian Catfish Clarias batrachus is threatened fish known from South Asia, Indochina and Western Indonesia Archipelago (Sumatra, Borneo and Java). In 2019 we captured specimens of C. batrachus from Kangean Island, a small, isolated Island in the Java Sea. This record is among first of this species from the remote area. A description of morphological features of a specimen are provided.
