Abstract

According to Phillips (1992), the dispersion or spread of the Chinese beyond China is one of the most extensive diasporas in the world today. Well-known historian Wang (1993) estimates that there are between 25 and 30 million Chinese migrants in the world, with four-fifths of them in Southeast Asia.
