Abstract

This research had been conducted to investigate the electrical potential profile of kidney acupuncture point using acupotentiograph. Using acupotentiograph, by employing to distinguish kidney organ condition status of patients through electrical characteristic of body acupuncture point. However, the classification of kidney status only could be classified into 3 groups, as follows healthy kidney, chronic renal failure diabetic nephrophaty and non-diabetic renal failure. The data collection was carried by examining 12 testies of patients at Airlangga University Hospital. The electrical potential profile was performed on four acupuncture points (shenshu-BL23, phisu-BL20, ghanshu-BL18 and tai xi-KI3) for 160 seconds. This examinations produce electrical potential in both time domain and frequency domain. Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) method was employed to analyze the frequency domain of electrical potential data. The result confirmed that the phisu (BL.20) point (p = 0.016) and Taixi (KI.3) point (p = 0.002) showed significantly differences between healthy kidney and chronic renal failure Diabetic Nephropathy (sick kidney) from the sample. While Ghansu (BL-18) and Shensu (BL-23) point have no significant difference between healthy testicular conditions, chronic renal failure testis Diabetic nephropathy and non-Diabetic chronic renal failure test. Based on the potential electric profile identification pattern of the acupuncture points obtained, healthy testi had a lower frequency than the chronic renal failure testis Diabetic nephropathy and non-Diabetic chronic renal failure test. Indeed, this result could be used as reference diagnosis of renal organs especially chronic renal failure at point Taixi (KI.3) and Phisu (BL.20) for kidney disease pre-identification.
