Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension is a silent killer and a priority in the world of health globally. Hypertension has factors that can be divided into two factors, namely modifiable and non-modifiable factors. The World Health Organization estimated that 1,28 billion adults aged 30-79 years worldwide have hypertension. In Indonesia the death rate due to hypertension is 427,218 and the age group prone to suffering from hypertension is 55-64 years. Meanwhile one of the regencies in East Java, namely Bojonegoro Regency also still has the proble, which always increase every year. Therefore, prevention of hypertension in the form of education needs to be carried out immediately to reduce the number of morbidty and disability sufferers. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of implementing the LATHI program increasing the knowledge and awareness of the Prambatan village community about hypertension. Method: This type of research is quantitice descriptive with One Group Pretest-Posttest Design with a purposive sampling technique. The target in this research were 61 elderly people aged 45-80 years old in Prambatan Village, Balen, Bojonegoro. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon Singned Rank Test which was seen based on the mean and p-value. Result: The results of this research were that 44 respondents or 72.13% experienced an increase in knowledge, 9 respondents had constant knowledge, and 8 respondents had a decreased level of knowledge. Apart from that, based on the bivariate Wilcoxon analysis test, a p-value of 0.000 <0.05 was obtained, which means that there was a significant difference in the level of knowledge of the people of Prangkat Village regarding hypertension between before and after being given the LATHI program. Conclusion: The LATHI “Anti Hypertension Games’ program can be an affective alternative means of health promotion to reduce the inciden of degenerative disease such as hypertension. This is because it’s easily accepted by the public, especially the elderly because is fun and informative.
