Abstract

Detection of viscosity of lubricating oil was successfully carried out using a fiber coupler and concave mirror (CM) as reflector based on displacement sensor. The detection mechanism is carried out by placing the lubricating oil as a propagating medium for the light that comes out and goes back into the sensor probe after it is reflected by the CM. Viscosity of the lubricating oil is detected with the peak voltage of the optical detector resulting from displacing probe sensor to the concave mirror. Lubricating oil viscosity worth 2.79-25.75 cP was detected with a resolution of 0.0429 cP.
