Abstract

Marine weather observations carried out by Tanjung Perak Maritime Class II Meteorological Station, has an important role in increasing alertness for weather conditions at sea. However, the applied weather observation uses ineffective analog equipment and require employees to be on site. Therefore, supporting an IoT-based weather observation system that suits the new normal era of COVIS-19 pandemic and the ease of use for the observer team at the Tanjung Perak Maritime Class II Meteorological Station is needed. This system support consists of a DHT11 temperature sensor, MS5637 pressure sensor and a NodeMCU microcontroller which transmits data via the internet to Thingspeak that are programmed using the Arduino IDE platform. The measurement parameters are wet bulb temperature, dry bulb temperature, dew point, humidity, QFF and QFE. The six parameters are compared with conventional equipment at Tanjung Perak Maritime Class II Meteorological Station. From the results of data analysis, the error values for Dry Bulb Temperature, Wet Bulb Temperature, Dewpoint, Humidity, QFF and QFE are: 2.4%; 1.5%; 2.1%; 4.9%; 0.025%; 0.030%. This research has succeeded in developing an IoT-based weather observation system that can support the effectiveness of the observer team's work in the new normal era.
