Abstract

Agenesis of the corpus callosum is linked to many manifestations of overall developmental delay. This condition can be confirmed by head CT scan and MRI. This study reports a case series of a two-year-old boy, a 9-month-old girl, and a 6-month-old girl with global developmental delay. The corpus callosum, which serves as the main pathway for communication between the two hemispheres of the brain, facilitates the transmission of sensory, motor, and cognitive information. Agenesis of the corpus callosum is considered rare. However, we report three cases of individuals with global developmental delay and developmental coordination disorder. Abnormalities of the corpus callosum include partial and complete agenesis and hypoplasia. Among the patients were a nine-month-old girl, a six-month-old girl and a two years old boy. The cases included one boy and two girls. The Denver II test revealed the first case with gross motor 8 delayed the first caution, the second case 6 delayed 2 cautions, and the third case 8 delayed one caution. All three cases from the Denver II test revealed suspects. Children with agenesis corpus callosum, especially hypoplasia of the corpus callosum in our case series, revealed fine motor-adaptive delay, personal social delay, gross motoric delay and language or speech delay. Otherwise, gross motoric delay is more prominent than other symptoms. Developmental coordination disorders are indicated by problems with movement and coordination occurring in all three cases. Denver II test for screening, and all patients still need further inspection.
