Abstract

A simple and rapid densitometric method has been developed for determination of o-aminobenzoic acid, β-D-glucopyranosyl-1-oaminobenzoate, and O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→6)-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-1-o-aminobenzoate in plant cell-suspension cultures. After dilution of the medium or extraction of the biomass with methanol the samples were spotted on precoated silica gel plates which were then developed with ethyl acetate-methanol-water, 70 + 20 + 10 (v/v). Quantitative evaluation was performed by measuring the absorbance- reflectance of the analyte spots at λ = 332 nm. The densitometric method is selective, precise, and accurate and so can be used for routine analysis of plant cell-culture systems.
