Abstract

Two unreported chalcone derivatives: flemingins P and Q (1 and 2), and two known analogues (3 and 4) were isolated from the leaves of Flemingia macrophylla (Willd.)Merr.The structures of flemingins P and Q were determined by a combination of spectroscopic methods. Chalcones 1–4 were assayed in four cancer cells (4T1, T47D, HeLa, and WiDr). Flemingin Q (2) exhibited high cytotoxic activity against 4T1, T47D, and HeLa cells, whereas compound 3 showed high cytotoxicity against 4T1 and WiDr cells. Conversely, compounds 1 and 4 did not show any anticancer activity towards the four cancer cells examined.
