Abstract
Introduction: Qusthul Hindi (Saussurea lappa) extract has wound healing, anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties by binding free radicals which play an important role in the healing process of traumatic ulcers. Nanoparticles has a submicron size that can increase penetration and absorption of active compounds, bind bioactive molecules and accelerate the cell regeneration process, making it possible to be designed as a drug delivery carrier that has good availability and adhesion for traumatic ulcer therapy. Materials and methods: Qusthul Hindi (Saussurea lappa) nanoparticles then carried out characterization, FT-IR and GC-MS analysis. Results: Qusthul Hindi extract nanoparticles have a size of 119.7 d.nm and there are 59 components identified in from GC-MS analysis. The functional groups identified in the samples through the FT-IR analysis include sesquiterpenoid compounds, aromatic groups, fluoro aliphatic, aromatic ethers, methylene, carbonyl and hydroxyl. Sesquiterpenoids are major constituents with several bioactivities indicating anti-inflammatory potential. Conclusion: Qusthul Hindi extract nanoparticles have anti-inflammatory potential.
