Abstract

This study was aimed to identify cellulolytic isolates from local bovine rumen. Cellulolytic activities of that isolate were evaluated to determine the activities of endoglucanase, exoglucanase and β-glucosidase. Genotypic testing was conducted by analysing 16S rDNA and biochemical identification of VITEK 2 microbial identification system version: 05.01 (BioMérieux). DNA of sample bacteria was isolated and further amplified in vitro with the PCR method. The nucleotide sequence of 16S rDNA fragment was determined through the sequencing method. The result was then compared with GenBank database to recognize the type of the sample bacteria. Based on the result, the cellulolytic isolate was identified as Enterobacter cloacae.
