Metastatic involvement of the pericardium is reflecting the advanced stage of the disease and generally associated with poor outcomes. The patient was treated urgently with pericardiocentesis and cytology pericardial fluid aspirate showed malignant glandular cells. Computed tomography of the chest confirmed the presence of a malignant lung tumor.
