Abstract

Positive identification and/or individualizationin forensic is an information demanding parameter that needs a compilation of evidential data for the verdict. Thorough and inclusion of necessary information increase the chances of reduced misidentification. Bone healing process through its medical and surgical condition retains a vital element of the information required in an anthropological investigation. Gatheredinformation define the paced stages at a defined period of time since scene of event/injury and devices used. In a forensic investigation, sometimes the remains recovered for identification are found with orthopedic devices fixed at surgery to support the healing process. Using a case study information and literature review, this article suggests a considerable stress on the healing process and remodeling of bone to help estimate PMI as well as the correlation of time recorded at surgery and finally support the calculated age at death.
