Personal profile

Ragil Angga Prastiya, DVM, M.Sc., is an academic and veterinary researcher at Universitas Airlangga with research interests centered on animal reproduction, reproductive biotechnology, and wildlife reproductive conservation. His research focuses on understanding and improving reproductive performance through the integration of theriogenology, sperm biology, semen preservation, assisted reproductive technologies, and reproductive health assessment.

His major research interests include sperm cryopreservation, semen quality and sperm functional assessment, artificial insemination, sperm selection and sexing technologies, reproductive toxicology, oxidative stress, reproductive endocrinology, and fertility in domestic, native, and wild animals. His work particularly explores factors affecting sperm function and post-thaw quality and the development of strategies to improve reproductive efficiency and fertility outcomes.

Beyond livestock reproduction, his research extends to wildlife and conservation medicine, particularly reproductive and developmental issues in sea turtles and other native species. This research encompasses the effects of environmental stressors and contaminants, including microplastics and trace elements, on reproductive health, embryonic development, and conservation outcomes.

His methodological interests include computer-assisted sperm analysis (CASA), semen cryobiology, reproductive biomarker assessment, experimental reproductive toxicology, histopathology, reproductive hormone analysis, and assisted reproductive techniques. He also applies systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and evidence synthesis to integrate research findings and strengthen evidence-based approaches in veterinary reproductive science.

His broader research goal is to advance evidence-based reproductive biotechnology that connects fundamental reproductive biology with practical applications in animal production, veterinary medicine, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable reproductive management.
