Iman Harymawan is a Professor in the Department of Accounting, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia. Besides serving as the Director of the Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE), Universitas Airlangga, he also serves as the Head of the Center for Environmental, Social, and Governance Studies (CESGS) as a way of manifesting his interest and passion in ESG and sustainability. He also contributed as an Official Consultant at the UNDP for the Ministry of Finance Indonesia. He has become a Senior Fellow at Center for Governance and Sustainability, NUS Business School.
Since 2022, Iman had provided corporate sustainability consultant for top companies, such as Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH), PT Pembangunan Perumahan (Persero) Tbk, eFishery, etc. Iman obtained his Ph.D. degree (2016) in accounting from the City University of Hong Kong in Hong Kong, MBA degree (2009) from National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan, and his B.A. degree (2006) in accounting from Universitas Airlangga in Indonesia. He has published about 60 peer reviewed articles in international journals including Managerial Auditing Journal, Australian Journal of Management, Management and Organization Review, Pacific Accounting Review, Asian Review of Accounting, and others. About 85 percent of his research is related to Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues in business areas. Since 2017, he has been awarded research grants of about 8,2 billion Rupiah or USD 570,000 from national and international institutions. He also serves as the Editor in Chief at the Asian Journal of Accounting Research (indexed by Scopus and ABDC). He currently teaches corporate governance, managerial accounting, and sustainability reporting.
