Iman Harymawan is a Professor in the Department of Accounting, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia. Currently, he serves as the Head of the Center for Environmental, Social, and Governance Studies (CESGS) and the Director of the Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE), Universitas Airlangga. He received his Ph.D. degree (2016) in accounting from the City University of Hong Kong, his MBA degree (2009) from National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan, and his B.A. degree (2006) in accounting from Universitas Airlangga in Indonesia. He also earned professional certification from the University of Oxford (Sustainable Corporations) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Blockchain). He also serve as the Senior Fellow of the Center for Governance and Sustainability at the National University of Singapore.
He has published about 114 peer-reviewed articles in international journals including Managerial Auditing Journal, Asian Review of Accounting, Journal of Accounting in Emerging Economies, Journal of Accounting and Organization Change, Australian Journal of Management, Management and Organization Review, Pacific Accounting Review, Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, International Journal of Accounting and Information Management and others. In sum, he has published 4 A rank, 31 B rank, and 16 C rank articles based on ABDC. If we refer to the Scopus list, he has published 48 Q1, 48 Q2, 15 Q3, 3 Q4 articles in the Scopus inclusion list. More than 85 percent of his research focuses on the relationship between accounting information and decision-making to the Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues in business.
In the last 5 years, he has been awarded research grants of about 10,9 billion rupiah (IDR 10.937.374.055,- / USD 698,338.21,-) from national and international institutions. He also serves as the Editor in Chief at the Asian Journal of Accounting Research, the only accounting journal from Indonesia that has been included in the Scopus inclusion list (Q2). In this journal, he actively lead 13 Associate Editors from 11 different countries.
In delivering the impact to the regulator and industry, he has involved actively as the national consultant of the United Nation Development Program (UNDP). Specifically, assisting the Ministry of Finance formulating the ESG framework for the infrastructure project that presented in G20 meeting in 2022. He also serves as the Director of ESG Intelligence (ESGI), a startup company who initiate the idea of “data democratization” in sustainable finance research. In addition, he has received 11 awards, published 8 books, hold 1 intellectual property right, and serves in many leading reputable journals as the ad hoc reviewers. He currently teaches corporate governance, managerial accounting, and sustainability reporting.
