Description of impact
From January 2016 to August 2018, I served as Senior Economic Advisor at the Presidential Staff Office of the Republic of Indonesia. During this period, I made significant contributions to policy reform across various critical areas. My work was instrumental in driving national priority programs and fostering sustainable economic development.1. Infrastructure Development: I provided strategic insights and recommendations for infrastructure development policies that span all provinces. My input was pivotal in shaping the National Priority Programs, ensuring balanced and inclusive growth across the country.
2. Labor Market and Vocational Education: I urged the synchronization of labor market analyses conducted by the Ministry of Manpower with the curriculum development in vocational education under the Ministry of Education and Culture. My recommendations focused on aligning educational outcomes with market needs to enhance the employability of vocational education graduates. Additionally, I collaborated with the Dutch government through the Embassy of the Netherlands in Jakarta and industry representatives from the agricultural to retail sectors to pilot vocational education reforms at the high school level in the agricultural field. The beneficiaries of the piloting project for vocational education reform are SMKN 2 Subang and SMKN 5 Jember. Through this reform initiative, the curriculum has increased its relevance to the needs of the industry, especially agriculture, from upstream to downstream like retail businesses such as supermarkets. Students can learn about good agricultural practices and also learn about working in the fresh food retail industry.
Teachers also have the opportunity to learn good agricultural practices at Dutch agricultural vocational schools and from successful farmers.
3. Economic Policy Briefs: I authored policy briefs on various economic developments impacting the market. These briefs covered critical issues such as food prices, the ease of doing business, and other economic-related matters. My analyses and recommendations informed decision-making processes, contributing to a more robust and responsive economic policy framework.
